Question: Recipes for a Sandwich Maker
By Rose Smith [46 Posts, 85 Comments]0 found this helpful
I just bought a sandwich maker from a thrift shop (the one that seals the edges in triangles). It did not have an instruction booklet with recipes. I know a few basic sandwiches but was wondering if anyone has come up with some new ideas.

Love my sandwich maker. Reubens are the best. I use rye bread lightly buttered. Swiss cheese, corned beef, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing.
White buttered bread with pizza sauce, mozzerella cheese and any pizza toppings are another favorite.
White buttered bread with apple, cherry or any pie filling for something sweet.

Spray the grids with 'pam' and dip the outsides of the bread in egg, place on the grids and fill with sliced ham and some swiss cheese, ooo yum.

A dollop of mixed tuna in the middle of just one (each side), PBJ that is warm can't be beat, scrambled egg and sausage, etc. You can google the brand and get ideas, too. Good luck!

Butter the sides of the bread which will be next to the plates of the machine. You can leave the crusts. We quite like slices of cheese (cheddar or similar rather than processed) with either thinly sliced onion or apples added. You can, if you wish, add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce if you get it in your area.
Am looking forward to picking up more ideas here!

I don't know what everyone else calls them, but around the campfire we'd call them pudgie pies. You can make them w/your sandwich maker though. Butter each piece of bread - open a can (Comstock is what i use) of fruit - whether it be apples, cherries, blueberries, etc. Put in about 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp of filling & cook. A delicious little pie!

Hope you enjoy these.
The sandwich maker is Great for eggs... you can just cook them like you would a fried egg (without all the grease) or you can mix up like scrambled eggs or with omelet fixin's.
Biscuit Sandwiches
You can put a small biscuit or half of a larger one in the bottom of one side and flatten it out and put all kinds of toppings on it--mini pizzas with pizza sauce and cheese and whatever other toppings you like--sugar and cinnamon--pie filling--
Muffin mixes - They can be used (try plain corn muffin mix with hot dogs - whole or sliced - for a version of corn dogs - or pancake batter with breakfast sausages).
Bisquik Batter or pancake mix or muffin mix works too-and you can add other things with it if you want to make it more of a meal or a dessert or a snack.
Put a little egg-beater in with maybe some salsa on top. Also use a little baking mix enough for just a couple of biscuits and put them in the snack maker. Have also done it. With the egg on one side and biscuit on the other at the same time.

My Notes: I usually use more cheese, you may want to de-bone the salmon, or else crush them up.
Pizza Fillings
Butter one side of a slice of bread. Spread the un buttered side with 1 tsp pizza sauce. If desired, sprinkle with a little Italian seasoning. Add your favorite pizza fillings, put on top slice, buttered side up, and toast as usual. Use your imagination... Use some deli ham, a bit of chopped onion, and a little bit of chopped up canned pineapple. Use deli salami, a couple onion rings and a slice of cheddar cheese, pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella, or your favorite things.
Note: Cook onions, green or red peppers and mushrooms in a little butter or margarine before using in a filling. Serve with a crisp salad!
Pumpkin Cheese Nut Cake
Puff will require more filling. Mix ingredients together until well blended and fill wrapper. Cook. Apple Pie:
Wrapper-pie crust, puff pastry, raisin or nut bread--need more filling in
pie crust or puff pastry
Can use mangoes, peaches or papaya in place of the apples.

A few years ago when I still ate meat, I used to make this lovely recipe in my sandwich maker. I took frozen turkey sausage patties (Pilgrims Pride, I think) and thawed them in the microwave so that I could break it up into pieces.
Then I put the crumbled sausage on bread with some jalapeños and shredded cheese on top, whatever kind you like but I used cheddar or some kind of mix. Then put that on the sandwich maker and cook until it's done.
After you take it out, put some sour cream and salsa on a plate to dip and enjoy! It was a big hit with my family. By the way, I was making these for my family when I was about twelve, so it's quite easy.
